Ricardo was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, in 1946. He completed his studies in Maracaibo, where he obtained a Degree in Economics from the University of Zulia in 1968. Later he completed studies in management, finance, taxes, project engineering, banking, insurance and capital market.
Ricardo began his professional career at Shell in 1969. Over the years he has had different responsibilities ranging from Treasurer at Corpozulia, MD of Sociedad Financiera de Occidente, Promoter, Vice-president and/or Manager of several financial institutions, including CEO of El Sol Financial Group and El Sol Insurance Company. He was also a Founder and CEO of Repicomca Telecomunicaciones which was established in 1977.
In 1984 he moved to Caracas and was appointed Controller of the financial institution COFIPECA, Director of the Division of Multilateral Organizations in the Ministry of Finance, and in 1992 he moved to Aruba to be the Managing Director of Midpacific Bank NV. Later, he returned to Caracas as Director of Incambios Valores, Stock Exchange House, until 2002.
Ricardo has also been the Member of the Board of Directors of the Banking Association of Venezuela and Member of the Chamber of Telecommunications Services Companies (CASETEL). He was also a member of Fedecámaras (a business association), and a member of the Association of Economists of Zulia and member of the Association of Economists of Caracas. He has received the Order Francisco de Miranda, first class.
Ricardo began working with Amicorp in 2007 when he opened the Barbados office. In 2011 he moved to establish our office in Bogota, where he is the Managing Director. He has also been Director of Amicorp Bank and Trust Limited and Amicorp Insurance Company SCC.
